Erin DeSmet, LMSW, is a clinical social worker specializing in trauma treatment. Erin takes the time to meet people where they are, build safety and understand them in the context of all their experiences and life story. She uses evidence-based tools to guide people through an exploration of their needs and concerns, supporting people in all life stages as they address the root causes of their troubles.
Erin studied Clinical Social Work with a concentration in Family Social Work at Michigan State University. Since graduate school, she has devoted time to formally studying trauma and its effects on the whole person. Erin is a S.A.F.E. trained and Certified Consultant in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the Personal Transformation Institute, as well as completing training in the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS) Ego State Therapy for healing childhood attachment wounding. With these and other approaches, Erin supports those experiencing PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, traumatic grief and loss, and more.
