Megan completed both undergraduate and graduate studies at Grand Valley State University, where a strong foundation in social work and therapy was established. For the past 18 years, she has worked for the State of Michigan, specializing in serving children and families. Throughout this tenure, there has been a particular focus on assisting children who have experienced abuse or neglect. This work has involved providing therapeutic support, advocacy, and guidance to those navigating extremely challenging circumstances.
In addition to direct clinical work, Megan has spent the last fifteen years teaching the Forensic Interviewing Protocol statewide. This protocol is designed to train professionals in conducting effective and sensitive interviews with children. The goal is to ensure that children are able to share their experiences in a safe, supportive environment, which is crucial for both their recovery and the pursuit of justice. Megan is particularly passionate about working with individuals who struggle with anxiety and depression. Helping people manage and overcome these challenges is viewed as deeply rewarding and fulfilling. There is a strong commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers clients to find hope, resilience, and healing.
Ultimately, the most fulfilling aspect of therapy work for Megan is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, families, and individuals facing adversity. There is an ongoing dedication to advancing skills, sharing knowledge, and creating positive change through both direct practice and instruction.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three children, often making cherished memories together. She has a passion for the outdoors, especially during the summer months, and loves visiting the beach and going on long hikes. In addition to her family, she shares her home with two fabulous fur babies who bring extra joy and energy to her life. These personal interests reflect her appreciation for nature, adventure, and the importance of family connections.
