Jessica has extensive education and experience working with challenging family dynamics through her work in the child welfare, community mental health, and school systems. She has a Master’s degree in counseling from Western Michigan University, and has been licensed as a Professional Counselor since 2007. She is a trained supervisor of Limited License Counselors. Her training and experience has centered around the impact of intergenerational trauma. She is passionate about healing trauma through EMDR and forging new ways of relating to oneself and others through Internal Family Systems and Family Systems Therapy. She is Gottman Level 1 trained, and also calls upon Imago and Nonviolent Communication tools in her work with couples. Jessica believes in the therapeutic power of identifying one’s values and using them to guide personal change and symptom reduction through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Clients she tends to have the best results with are those who are looking to build personal and interpersonal insight, increase resilience through addressing trauma, improve relationships and communication therein, and navigate life transitions.
Jessica is also a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer. She believes in the importance of making movement, mobility and fitness part of life, at all stages. She enjoys reading, Latin dancing, working out, and fostering dogs. She is currently working on becoming a therapy dog team with her Labradoodle, Cooper.
