Dr. Dan Zomerlei is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a deep commitment to helping people grow in their relationships, leadership, and overall well-being. He earned his undergraduate degree from Hope College, his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and his Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and his PhD in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy from Michigan State University.
With more than 17 years of clinical experience, Dan finds great fulfillment in watching people change—seeing couples move from disconnection to closeness, or helping individuals find clarity and courage in the midst of stress, trauma, or transition. His work is grounded in systems thinking and attachment theory, and he primarily uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-based model for improving connection and reducing conflict in relationships.
Dan brings a trauma-informed lens to his practice, supported by training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for trauma recovery. In addition to his work with couples and individuals, he has a special interest in supporting those in leadership roles—particularly in education, healthcare, business, athletics, and faith communities—as they navigate the challenges of responsibility, burnout, and relational strain.
In every setting, Dan’s goal is to create a safe, authentic space where people feel seen, understood, and equipped to grow toward greater health and connection.
