Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist | AAMFT Approved Supervisor | Co-Owner, Alliance Counseling Group

Dr. Dan Zomerlei is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a deep commitment to helping people thrive in their relationships, leadership roles, and personal well-being. He holds degrees from Hope College, Fuller Theological Seminary, and Michigan State University, where he earned his PhD in Human Development and Family Studies with a Specialization in Couple and Family Therapy.

Dan specializes in working with couples and has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-backed approach for improving connection and reducing cycles of conflict. He is also passionate about supporting individuals in leadership—particularly those in education, healthcare, business, athletics, and faith communities. Drawing on his clinical expertise in systems thinking and family systems theory, Dan works with leaders navigating stress, burnout, relationship challenges, and value-driven decision-making.

In all of his work, Dan brings a trauma-informed lens, supported by training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for trauma recovery. His holistic and relational approach helps clients not only heal but grow.

Beyond the therapy room, Dan serves as a co-owner of Alliance Counseling Group and is an Approved Supervisor through the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He also teaches as an adjunct faculty member in the Psychology Department at Hope College, where he enjoys educating future clinicians on the integration of research and practice.
