Elizabeth Smith, LMSW

  • Grand Rapids,

(616) 222-0631 ext. 729

Elizabeth earned her Masters in Social Work from Spring Arbor University after many years of coordinating health and wellness programs for refugee populations in the Greater Grand Rapids area. She comes to therapy with years of experience from working with people who have experienced great losses and yet  exhibited great resilience to move forward and she brings this experience to the therapy room. She maintains an essence of hope for change to those she meets and a dedication to journey “with”. In addition to working in therapy,  she shares her time working in healthcare primarily with those facing chronic health conditions and end of life. This experience helps her to be especially aware of the many needs of those who are going through health related issues. Elizabeth has an eclectic approach to therapy, letting the client guide with what the best approach is for them, but she is a big believer in the healing of nature and will utilize this as well as encourage healthy practices understanding the mind and body connection.

Elizabeth is the mother of four adult daughters and grandmother to one. She enjoys being in nature and likes to hike, camp, and sit by the fire in Michigan State Parks and other places of beauty. She enjoys travel and has visited countries in Africa and Southeast Asia and enjoys learning about other cultures. She is originally from South Carolina and found a special home in Michigan thirty years ago. Most recently, she is learning the art of water color and has seen the parallel of it with life. She sees that we can learn to embrace uncertainty and adapt to unexpected events much like the unexpected results of using water and pigment on the watercolor paper.
