Brian Sharda is a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed social worker who enjoys working with individuals of all ages (children, adolescents, adults and older adults), as well as couples and families. He has extensive experience working in multiple systems (medical, legal, mental health, education, child welfare) with clients from a variety of backgrounds and with a wide range of challenges. Brian specializes in concerns related to anxiety, depression, PTSD, secondary trauma, grief and loss, and marriage and family dynamics. He utilizes a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, Motivational Interviewing, and narrative therapy. Brian‘s mindfulness-based approach in counseling helps clients increase their own awareness of how stressful circumstances lead to suffering, and how clients may manage their distress more effectively and move toward healing and peace. Additionally, as a foster parent himself, Brian is able to bring a unique counseling perspective to the challenges related to foster care and adoption.
